Getting Closer to Push Gmail

Since Google and Apple have still not been able to deliver push Gmail to the iPhone, PushMail is an alternative for all of you who frantically need your mail instantly and can’t wait 15 minutes for it to fetch. However, it will cost you 5 bucks in the App Store. Also, waiting to be approved by Apple is GPush that is rumored to be around 99 cents. Don’t get me wrong, I am fed up as anybody that Gmail can be pushed to other devices except the iPhone. I also think I shouldn’t have to pay extra for a feature that should have been included in the 3GS release if not before. On the other hand, both of these apps are nice substitutes to fix the sqeaky wheel.
Basically, here is how it works with PushMail and GPush:
- Once you purchase PushMail, you will need to register with the dopushmail.com domain. This is where you will forward your selected email accounts to.  Now, when you receive emails to this dummy account, PushMail uses push notifications to alert you of the new mail you have received. Keep in mind that this app is not intended just for Gmail, but for any email account(s) that can be forwarded.
- If GPush passes its interogation, you will basically see the same concept with push notifications after logging into the app with your Gmail username and password.
This is a simple concept and might help some on your battery life after jumping through these hoops.
