Tethering the iPhone is one of last options we haven’t seen AT&T bring to the table yet as they promised to in 2009.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute.  Even though it’s probably not the most important or sought after, I can imagine traveling business users would have some use for this and be willing to pay the ridiculous fee.  But, until that day comes, here is a work-around that should get you going in an emergency.  I say emergency because it probably wouldn’t be the brightest idea to start racking up bizarre data numbers that raises red flags to AT&T (or whoever your carrier is).  If you’re on the go and need access to your laptop, this is good to fall back on.  For all you risk takers, just follow these steps:

1. Open up Safari
2. Browse to the following site: http://help.benm.at/tethering.php
3. Find your country and select the provider you use.  Then tap “Download”
4. Go to Settings, General,  Network, Internet Tethering Bluetooth or USB

As always, this is performed at your OWN risk. For the most part, this works reasonably well and some have really complimented the speeds.  Although some have had complications with visual voicemail depending on your country or carrier.
