BUT, even though you’re not fighting with knots, you may run into fighting your JayBird headset due to not being able to control audio tracks via the headset.  This wouldn’t sway my decision to not recommend, but it can be aggravating when you have to manage your tracks through your device versus tapping on already-in-place buttons on your earpiece.  Since the iPhone/Touch isn’t capable of this Bluetooth functionality yet, JayBird stepped up and provided extra capabilities with their own app!

JayBird BluTrax now lets you have full control over tracks (play, pause, fast forward, rewind and skip tracks).  It might take a little practice getting the feel for the sequence of going forward and back.  But you’ll get these down by using the practice guide within the app.  When the app is open, you’ll be able to take advantage of these features by selecting the playlists from your library.

$5 is the App Store may be a little steep, but you’re not going to be wrestling your pocket anymore.

Finally MMS arrives for iPhone users … yaaaaay! And I’m happy to report that it does exactly what we wanted it to do .. send & receive pictures and videos. But wait, there’s a hidden MMS feature I wasn’t asking for, MMS Voice Message!

I stumbled onto the feature when I went to forward a voice memo to my work email address, and bam … What’s this? … an MMS Button on the Share Voice Memo Using page?

Hidden in the carrier settings update this past Friday was an update to the sharing options of Voice Memos.

So how do you send a MMS voice message?

• Open the Voice Memos app and record your note.
• Select the recording you want to send, tap the share button and select MMS.
• Choose a recipient, add an optional text message if you want and click send.

Your voice note is automatically added to an outgoing MMS and sent.

If you receive a voice note, tap on the audio file icon and the note will play immediately in Quicktime player.

Apple only allows you to sync your iPhone with one iTunes library at a time. When you attempt to sync your iPhone with another computer, you get the familiar, “The iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?” message.

But what if you want to use your home computer to sync pictures, music, videos and podcasts and your office computer to sync calendar and contact information?

It’s basically a 7 step process which takes some very simple hacking skills.

Step 1 – On your main computer, browse to your iTunes music folder and double click the file named iTunes Music Library.xml to open it in Notepad.

Step 2 – Write down the value of the Library Persistent ID key. (It should look something like 20F830293962CBA4) Take care not to modify the file before closing.

Step 3 - On your secondary computer, browse to your iTunes music folder and create a backup of iTunes Music Library.xml and iTunes Library.itl. Select both files and press Control+c then Control+v on your keyboard. This will make a backup copy of the files.

Step 4 – Double click to open iTunes Music Library.xml in notepad.  Make note of the current Library Persistent ID then change the Library Persistent ID key to the one we wrote down from Step Two and save the file.

Step 5 – Now we will need to open iTunes Library.itl using a HexEditor. You can download HexEdit from here.

Step 6 – Once you have opened iTunes Library.itl using HexEdit, search for the old Library Persistent ID we replaced in Step Four. Do this by clicking Find from the Menubar. Make sure to select Hex as your search type.

Step 7 – Once found, replace the old Library Persistent ID with the one from Part Two and save the file.

You can now launch iTunes and connect your iPhone to the new computer for syncing. Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left. Notice if now select Manually manage music and videos from the Summary Tab you will no longer be prompted to erase your data, nor will the files on your iPhone be grayed out.

The electronic boarding pass pilot enables passengers to download their boarding pass on their cell phones or personal digital assistants (PDAs). This innovative approach streamlines the customer experience while heightening the ability to detect fraudulent boarding passes.

Each paperless boarding pass will display a two-dimensional bar code along with passenger and flight information that will identify the traveler. TSA travel document checkers will use scanners to validate the authenticity of the paperless boarding pass sent to Continental passengers. The new technology heightens the ability to detect fraudulent boarding passes while improving customer service and reducing paper use.

TSA created the concept of how to scan the paperless boarding passes and Continental Airlines developed an implementation plan that involved encrypting the paperless boarding pass to ensure authenticity. Continental is the first U.S. carrier to test paperless boarding passes.

There are several benefits to enabling electronic boarding passes, the TSA said. First, it eliminates the need for a paper boarding pass, which can easily be misplaced. Second, the technology will help detect fraudulent documents. Third, it will help improve customer service and speed up the boarding process.

“The deployment of the paperless technology signifies TSA’s ongoing commitment to develop and implement new technologies while enhancing security,” said Mike Aguilar, TSA Federal Security Director for San Diego. “We are pleased to be able to partner with Continental Airlines to expand this program that will help our officers validate authentic boarding documents.”

There are now 30 airports and 5 airlines piloting this technology.
